Training for Interpretion Excellence offers the Qualified Interpreter Course of Study (QICS) 3-day seminar to bilinguals seeking to become Qualified Interpreters for community, nonprofit and government service settings. QICS can also help Certified Interpreters refresh and enhance skills.

Your Instructor Angie Carrera
For over two decades instructor Angie Carrera has trained interpreters for service in various venues.
Clients have included Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court (JDRC)*, and local non-profit organizations serving immigrant communities, as well as a government contractor to the military for warzone service.
*Ms. Carrera's training regimen was instrumental in JRDC-VIP's being awarded the 1998 National Association of County's Award for Innovative Services.
Become a Qualified Interpreter or prepare for Certification!
The QICS seminar includes an intensive introduction to the Interpreter’s Code of Conduct and the Foundation and Fundamentals of Interpretation; a discussion on cultural brokering; and a practice session on glossary building. You will also experience various role plays for different venues.
Upon passing the final exam, those students attending the entire course will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Please note: This is not a language course nor is it a translation (written) training class. It is for verbal interpretation training of fluent bilinguals.

Angie Carrera is available to present "So You Want to Be an Interpreter." This two-hour seminar provides attendees with birds-eye view of interpretation requirements, types of venues, legal obligations and resources for skill development. This presentation is at no cost.
